Adding insult to injury, the 2002-2005 Explorer also has a massive problem with the. I didn't have enough time to repair it. I have read of course I didn't see all these complaints before I purchased! They say I need a clutch repair kit. Interested to hear from all. They made and sold defective vehicles and won't do anything about it. ??.
Weird noises coming from absolutely everywhere. Also I found that all clutches and bands were toasted. . Now today has become my worst nightmare. They inflate the cost of the parts, so you can't calculate how much their actual cost really is. You can't even get the proper flywheel and clutch from Ford? This has cost me more than money, it cost my job, home. Have any of you run into this or have an idea on what I can do.
I will contact Southland Clutch first part of next week to see how things are going. The vehicle is at a mechanic in Tuba City Arizona right now and I bought a salvage engine last week which is being shipped to him as we speak. I just bought a new Ford Escape yesterday, now definitely second guessing that decision! The history behind it is from what I understand Ford decided in 2002 to do an experiment to go from single mast to dual mast flywheel, and have a 26 spline in it. Any help would be much appreciated. Doors ajar constantly for no reason. I drove one with 208,000 miles with the conversion kit, this clutch feels and acts better than the original. Obviously, the transmission was poorly designed with many defects. I was shocked to read all the similar complaints on 2002 ford explorer transmissions. And the transmission may have a different bolt pattern than the 23 spline ones but I still don't see why you couldn't replace it with a standard 23 spline transmission because I highly doubt the bolt pattern on the engine is any different than the regular 4. How can people simply get a head and provide for there family's when we are hit int the face with repairs for this king of money. From what I understand you cant even swap out the transmissions because it doesnt bolt of the same.
I was wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this. Thank You ford - Eric H. Secondly, does anyone know how to tell if I have a 23 spline or 26 spline without separating the motor and trans? The night I brought it home I was stranded out of town. I seriously thought this truck was possessed. I'm thinking the experiment was maybe just using the assemblies from the transmissions they used for the 4. The price suddenly doubles or triples. Since the parts have been discontinued by Ford and the aftermarket, business on the kit has been steady. Ford said they do not make the clutch or flywheel. Recently we designed a Solid flywheel conversion clutch kit.
This seems like the place i need to be. At this point, I'm not sure what exactly needs replaced, but I'm guessing everything cause she's got 115,000 on her. Ford not only took daughter's life, but ruined our family, we have been torn to pieces and will never be put back together. So devastated, I can't afford to fix this car again, I'm totally disappointed and at a total loss for words. The doors were grinding and dropping chunks of rust.
