This issue is tough due to the intermittent nature. Sometimes when auto-up is used, the window would go almost to the top and then would auto-reverse and go down instead. The failures were not diagnosed. This is my 2nd replacement! Water drained inside the car. The windshield wipers were inoperative.
Lift the glass and place it on a windshield stand or suitable workstation. It took them 4 days but it works! The car was stuck in my driveway and had to be towed. The repair from previous service didn't work. Cleaning of the windshield was no help. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the horn became inoperative in cold climates. The sensor controls the auto headlights and automatic wiper function aka rain sensing wipers. After it warms up they will work.
Clutch control relay defective and replaced. The passenger side headlight was inoperable, the work was completed, however 2 hours later the headlight failed again. The vehicle was not repaired. Remove and set aside before beginning cutout. I have requested to have these mirror disengaged - to remain open - but according to vw dealer this is not possible at all.
Based on this, vw of America states they will not authorize vw brakes to be put on the car. The side mirrors open when they want to. Dealer replaced seat belt buckle catch which fixed problem. I cold weather 10F the wipers do not work. If you decide you don't like either of these functions they can be turned off. The difficulty and inconvenience of obtaining replacements of this critical safety part causes visibility problems and an unknown number of wrecks.
I live in the mountains of Colorado and this has been an ongoing issue during cold and snowy weather. I complained at the dealership and vw and was told nothing can be done but was told that other owners complain about the wipers. I have hand ailments so sometimes finger tips numb. There is a black plastic blank-off plate where the rain sensor was. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
I got the car back to the dealership and complained to the manager they checked it out and told me that the switch needed replacing they got the part in and replaced it. These problems should not be ignored any longer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that the windshield wiper motor was not included in a recall and the air bag failure was not recall related. This took lots of effort to nail down. Causes safety and drive-ability issues in cold and extreme cold weather.
Now this problem is intermittent. A new part was installed and the system now works as it should. After cutting the windshield out, remove contaminants such as dirt, moisture and debris from the pinchweld. The glass was all sticking straight up and there was no sign of an object in or on the car. Part was difficult to remove but went back together very easily. And yet, there has been no satisfactory solution and fix of this very dangerous flaw because there is no error code. Door lock sensor was bad so remote would lock all doors at one time, unlock drivers door, unlock rear hatch, but would not unlock all four doors and hatch at one time.
I can deal with fog on the windshield but not a frozen windshield only to have no means of getting heat to thaw out. This was found out while driving to work on a very cold day and not having the defrost working very well on the passenger side. Repaired wire shorting on bumper. Neither available on that day. Dealer replaced compressor, dryer and thermal expansion valve and flushed cooling system. They had to order the part.
I was crying and shaking and pulled off the highway to S parkway and called 911 to file a report. I am scared to drive in a car with a sunroof now and do not feel safe. Note: Before beginning windshield removal, verify the new windshield is the correct one and the urethanes and primers are current. You have completed the removal and replacement of the windshield. Not sure I can decipher I just replaced wiper motor because wipers parked at top of windhield. This will not be reported, since not a car fault. An actuator should not be failing this early in the vehicle's lifetime.
Ironic that that the warning light is faulty more often that the item it indicates - and costs more. For some reason, my sun roof exploded for no apparent reason. The shop rep said they were seeing a lot of these since the cold weather set in. After replacement of the heater core assembly the issue was resolved. Second replacement head fixed screen problem, improved but did not completely fix Sirius issue.
